The unfortunate reality is that once everyone else goes into survival mode and starts buying everything off the shelf

The unfortunate reality is that once everyone else goes into survival mode and starts buying everything off the shelf, you have to participate if you desire to take care of yourself and your family.
This morning, after a full day and up-all-night with my son Conner who has a 103 temp, my only chance to leave for a few things was in the middle of the night as everyone else in my family and the town slept.
I found 40 single water bottles at the gas station as everyone is out of packaged water, and so I gathered as many as I could in bags and a box lying on the floor.
I made my way singlehandedly with multiple bags and a box full of heavy waters to the counter where the employees attempted to shame me for taking all of their water when they have more coming.
I explained to them I have a baby who’s sick and there’s no telling when I’ll leave the house again and that I breastfeed and require water to keep my baby hydrated, and I literally don’t have it in me knowing I’m leaving my home, family, husband, and dog behind in just a few days to compete with townspeople (whilst holding a sick and crying baby) for the few waters that come in later this week.
So, I bought all I could.
After paying, the 3 employees watched as I found my way to my car with the bags and boxes that then broke while waters fell to the floor, and no one – not employees, not strangers on the street – offered any help.
PS I’m a fucking Super Woman.

It’s going down. You don’t get to be a cashier at a gas station making like 7.31 an hour and be judgemental. They just mad they can’t afford the water in the place they work! And I can say that because I worked at a gas station!

Errity I’m sorry you had to go through that.
I’ll also tell you to start filling up every container you have at home with water, and if you have gallon Ziploc bags fill those 3/4 of the way up.
Also you can buy the cheap premixed gallons of “juice” …

Yep and fill your bathtub or trash cans with water or let them fill up with rainwater outside so that you can use it to flush the toilet.
